Slow Cooker Hot Chocolate Ingredients

Milk Chocolate Hot Cocoa Mix Envelopes (I like Swiss Miss®): Milk Chocolate Hot Cocoa Mix Envelopes offer a convenient and delicious way to enjoy the rich, creamy taste of milk chocolate in a comforting drink. Simply add hot water or milk for an indulgent hot cocoa experience.

Milk: Milk is the creamier choice than water for hot cocoa due to its fats and proteins, which enhance texture and smoothness, while its natural sweetness complements the cocoa flavor. These qualities make milk the ideal option for a rich and creamy hot cocoa experience.

Can I add toppings to this hot chocolate?

Yes! In fact, I encourage the following topping options:

Whipped Dairy Cream Topping (I use Reddi-Wip Original): Whipped dairy cream topping is an ideal choice for hot chocolate because its light and airy texture adds a delightful contrast to the warm, rich cocoa beneath, creating a harmonious blend of flavors and sensations. Its subtle sweetness and creaminess enhance the overall indulgence, making it the perfect finishing touch for a cozy and satisfying cup of hot chocolate.

Mini Chocolate Chips (optional): Mini chocolate chips are a delightful addition to hot chocolate because they quickly melt, infusing each sip with bursts of rich chocolate flavor. Their small size allows for easy dispersion, ensuring a consistent and indulgent chocolatey experience throughout your drink.

Chocolate Syrup (optional):Chocolate syrup is an excellent choice for topping hot chocolate because its thick, sweet consistency complements the drink’s warmth and richness. It adds an extra layer of decadence, making your hot chocolate even more luxurious and satisfying.

    Hello,
Looking to make hot chocolate in the crock pot for my sons first birthday party and wanted to use Swiss miss so your recipe is perfect . After being on high for 1 hour, what do you recommend to keep it hot for the duration of the party without burning it?

It should be good if you have a warm setting!

Do you know how much cocoa powder it would be from the big tins instead of individual packets?

Hmmm, you would need to do the math on each serving (each serving is 8oz) and factor that into how many people you would like to serve, making sure you slow cooker can hold it.

How should I approach 225 -240 servings for an event at school ??

1 pack and 8oz of milk/water is one serving so I would suggest multiplying by 225-240. You could see if sams club/costco sells the amount in bulk and you would need about 2 gals of milk. Unless you have multiple crock pots I would most likely get multiple deep stock pots and just keep an eye on them!

I did 12 cups of water and 14 packets…you could probably sub milk for water. I used water in case of milk alergies.

This worked great for a class party we did, filled crock pot with water and set on high for an hour…mixed cocoa packets in and cocoa was ready to go. Kids loved adding marshmallows, whip cream, and chocolate chips!

We are going to do a school party for about 80 kids , how
Many packets do you recommend ?

I’d buy a canister of Swiss miss for that many kids. I’d use 2 tbsp to one cup of water or milk. If each kid has one cup that’s 160 tbsp, or 10 cups of cocoa powder for 80 cups.

I have 25 kids in my class. Do you think one crock pot will be enough?

    • No-Brainer Crockpot Slow Cooker Hot Chocolate Recipe (27)

      Amy @ Mom Spark Reply

A normal cup would be one packet, but with kids you could probably half that, so you would need at least 13 packets. This recipe calls for 8 for 8 adults, so change the recipe accordingly (and make sure your slow cooker can hold 104oz (13 cups, 3.25 quarts).

I think Swiss Miss has dried milk powder in it doesn’t it? That wouldn’t be lactose free. There is a great hot cocoa recipe on the back of the Hershey chocolate cocoa powder canister. You could use lactose free with that.
