Before leaving on your camping trip, bake one Angelfood Cake according to your favorite recipe.

Pick fresh strawberries with a nice mixture of large and small berries (for natural sweetness). Hull, wash, and slice berries placing them in a large airtight baggie for storage while still wet.

Take butter and whipped cream along in your cooler.

At the campfire slice the cake into thin, square slices and butter one side of each slice. Place slices of cake in pie maker with a healthy portion of berries in the middle. Cook over coals for about three minutes per side. Take "shortcake" out of pie maker, place on plate, top with whipped cream, and serve warm. For variety, try mixing some canned blueberry pie filling with the strawberries.
