A traditional cage set up is definitely the easiest, most available option to go with in regards to indoor living spaces. We have no problems with traditional cages! A traditional cage set up is definitely the easiest, most available option to go with in regards to indoor living spaces. We have no problems with traditional cages! However, there are some things to watch out for when it comes to cages that you need to be mindful of when considering which cage is best for your bird. (Click here for this cage in particular)

- Bar Spacing. Bar Spacing is a commonly overlooked feature of a cage yet can be a life threatening one. Check out our blog here!
- Cage Size. We weren't joking on our front page when we said "size matters". When it comes to size, as long as bar spacing is correct, the biggest you can offer is best! Cages in big name retail stores are almost always too small - check online for better options.
- Material Used. Do not get anything with galvanized metal! This is toxic to your birds. Instead, stick with stainless steel or powder coated - those are 2 popular and safe options.

- Multiple Sized PerchesAvailable. This is key to your bird's foot health and provides a lot of places to play! Check out our blog here!
- Lots and Lots of toys!! Remember this is where your parrot should enjoy living, not a place it considers a punishment. Need toys? We got you!

Some people might just consider these extra large indoor cages, but indoor aviaries are something we love and implement ourselves! They are meant to be large enough for the birds to be able to climb and fly and be the amazing birds that they are. This amazing stainless steel aviary was custom made for our friend and free flight student, Claudia, but you can get an indoor aviary online or from Corners Limited. Just be aware of all the items we mentioned in the traditional cage set up as those apply to indoor aviaries as well.

One thing we do want to mention about indoor aviaries is while it is tempting to consider these as being "multi-bird" cages, birds should only ever be house together temporarily and it should never be with a bird of a different size. Also, if the birds do not get along, they should neverbe housed together.

We recommend every bird have their own living space to avoid behavioral and possible physical issues down the road .Theaviary in the photo is for one bird.

Your bird should be just as excited to go in its cage as going out! If you work on your area with that in mind, you will have an amazing indoor set up that works for you and your bird.
